About Northcote Lending Research
Northcote Lending Research is a research desk. It publishes reports on SBA and small-business lending and keeps its sources in view on every page.
The desk exists because good small-business lending data is scattered across agencies and surveys. Owners, journalists and underwriters often work from anecdote; this desk works from published figures and names where each came from.
When a business that came through this site is placed with a partner from the network, the desk is paid. That activity has no say in the figures, and none is adjusted to favour a product or partner.
There are no bylines here. The desk writes each report and checks it against the methodology page before it goes out. Corrections are published, dated and kept.
How the desk is paid
A funding partner pays Northcote Lending Research when a business that asked for options here gets funded. Reports are free to read, and no number is changed to suit a product or partner.
The network
Northcote Lending Research has an exclusive network of funding and marketing partners behind its request form. When you submit a request, we may share your information with those partners to evaluate and present funding options. We do not sell your information for unrelated purposes.
- 01
Numbers before words
A report leads with its figures. Commentary stays brief and never alters a number on the page.
- 02
Sample and period stated
Each number says where it came from and what period it covers. A figure without either is labelled illustrative.
- 03
Nothing invented
When a number doesn't exist, the desk says so and doesn't estimate one. An empty cell stays empty.
- 04
Corrections kept
Each revision is dated and noted on the report, so an old number never quietly disappears.
